L’heure est au souvenir. Voici quelques interrogations ordinaires.

Faire souvenir où ? Les lieux sont des symboles. Faire mémoire en des lieux précis, c’est affirmer les symboles que ces lieux portent ou expriment : un journal pour la liberté d’expression ; la rue pour affirmer notre humanité ; une place riche en histoire dans laquelle s’enracine notre être et notre devenir ensemble ; ma chambre et son silence intérieur…

Se souvenir de qui, de quoi ? Des victimes. Mais pourquoi ces morts plutôt que d’autres ? Parce que on se souvient des proches, de ceux avec qui on a partagé une histoire commune. Se souvenir, c’est récupérer l’héritage de notre amitié partagée, pour continuer à vivre, pour retrouver la joie de vivre, une fois la tristesse partie si elle peut partir un jour… On peut se souvenir des vivants, sauveteurs spontanés et autres secouristes qui n’ont fait que leur devoir en suivant le mouvement de leur cœur humain. Les tueurs, devenus nos ennemis, reviennent aussi à notre mémoire : nous aussi, n’avons-nous jamais voulu imposer notre conception du bien ?

Comment se souvenir ? Aller sur place ; parler des amitiés défuntes ; raconter les manifestations de solidarité ; évoquer ses émotions : la peur, la sidération, l’incompréhension, la révolte ; écouter les récits de tel ou tel ; s’informer : tant de repères s’effondrent sans être remplacés…

Les sentiments d’hier remontent à la conscience, contradictoires et désordonnés. Aujourd’hui, qu’en est-il de ces sentiments et de leur évolution ? Se souvenir serait alors l’occasion de ne pas rester figé dans la peur et ces émotions stériles ou mortifères, pour se mettre en mouvement comme nous y invite l’étymologie d’« émotion », pour faire du neuf.

Pourquoi se souvenir ? Un souvenir se vit dans le présent. Il est le regard d’aujourd’hui sur hier. Il cherche le sens voilé de l’événement pour modeler l’avenir. Mais l’avenir nous appartient-il davantage que ce passé qui s’est imposé et qu’on aurait préféré ne pas vivre ?

Se souvenir peut permettre de faire le tri ; travail de deuil qui répare le désordre ; occasion de laisser partir ce qui est devenu inutile à la vie, pour que celle-ci reprenne sa route ou avance encore sur son chemin mystérieux.

Se souvenir ensemble surtout. Pourquoi ensemble ? L’être humain n’est pas solitaire mais solidaire. Des symboles le disent, qu’ils soient politiques, philosophiques ou religieux. Se souvenir ensemble serait alors une occasion de les prendre au sérieux : d’en balayer de faux, d’en affirmer de vrais que la confrontation, le débat, ont pu faire éclore depuis l’événement. Pour poser un jalon. Pour faciliter la mémoire, celle qui constitue l’histoire dans laquelle les symboles justement sont plantés. Pour orienter la politique, celle qui conduit le bien-vivre-ensemble sur une terre partagée.

Qui se souvient, en fait ? Les blessés, les agresseurs, les autres, les politiques en charge du bien commun, les religieux en charge des symboliques de vie et de mort ? Je rêve d’un discours-mémorial partagé et accepté par tous dans sa diversité : par les victimes et leur pardon ; par les agresseurs et leur contrition ; par les politiques et leur réalisme concret ; et par les religieux et la miséricorde avant la morale ou les anathèmes.

Et ensuite ? Faire silence, avant de bouger, pour entendre la vérité toute simple de notre cœur.
